• Our Background

Established in 2021, the Center for Agricultural Policies and Initiatives – CAPI is a consultancy firm based in Tamale Ghana. We are focused on rural development and agricultural projects. CAPI operates in northern Ghana, having so far implemented projects in Sagnerigu, Tolon, Kumbungu and Gushegu Districts. The organization is constituted by seven key members;

  • Objectives
  • To be a source of useful policy advice to government and development institutions
  • To provide useful practical knowledge to farmers and actors on the agricultural value chain
  • To be a collaborator in agricultural and rural development
  • To promote gender equity (especially in the area of women and youth inclusion) in the agricultural sector
  • To be an initiator of sustainable climate smart projects for environmental, food and income security

Past projects and activities

  • May to October, 2024: Household Edible Tree (H.E.T) Project:- Training of widows on integration of household tree planting and organic vegetable production; and providing free mango seedlings. Tugu-Yapala and Tugu communities of Tamale Metropolis. (in support of Green-Ghana Project). Co-facilitated and supervised by one Peace Corps Volunteer and one Agric. Extension Agent.
  • July – August 2024: Training of 30 participants for 45 days on agronomy of cereals and legumes under the British Council CTVET collaboration project for youth employable skills programme. Partnership with Tibzaa Integrated Farms and Dabokpa Technical Institute, Tamale.
  • May 2024 to October, 2024: Training Widows on Mango Tree Planting and providing free seedlings; in collaboration with Northern Widows Agricultural Foundation. Twenty-one (21) beneficiaries in 6 communities of 2 Districts (Savelugu and Sagnerigu). (in support of Green-Ghana Project).
  • May – September 2023: Training Widows on Mango Tree Planting and providing free seedlings; in collaboration with Northern Widows Agricultural Foundation. Implemented in 2023 for 32 beneficiaries in 14 communities of 4 districts (Tolon, Kumbungu, Sagnerigu and Savelugu). (in support of Green-Ghana Project).

 

  • May 2022: Training of 576 youth entrepreneurs in agribusiness under the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme – N.E.I.P
